Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England located next to the Northamptonshire villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury. The circuit straddles the Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire border, with the current main circuit entry on the Buckinghamshire side. The Northamptonshire towns of Towcester (5 miles) and Brackley (7 miles) and Buckinghamshire town of Buckingham (6 miles) are close by, and the nearest large towns are Northampton and Milton Keynes.
The 2007 British Grand Prix was the ninth race of the 2007 Formula One season. It was held on 8 July 2007 at the Silverstone Circuit. The race was won by Kimi Räikkönen after overtaking pole position driver Lewis Hamilton during the first round of pit stops. Second place was taken by Fernando Alonso and Hamilton was third.
Following British driver Lewis Hamilton’s win at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix, circuit director Richard Phillips reported that ticket sales had “gone through the roof”. Phillips added, “we haven’t seen this level of interest since Mansell-mania in the late 80s and early 90s”.
In the run up to the race Ferrari presented a legal case against English engineer Nigel Stepney and a McLaren employee, after a search warrant revealed evidence of theft of technical information from the Italian team. McLaren indicated that they would fully cooperate with the investigation, and after a thorough internal investigation the team concluded that “no Ferrari intellectual property has been passed to any other members of the team or incorporated into its cars.” The FIA are launching their own investigation into the matter, but stress that their investigation will only involve matters of the Formula One rules and regulations.
In another element of the pre-race activities, the Red Bull cars of David Coulthard and Mark Webber sported a livery of fan-submitted images as part of a one-off event for the charity Wings for Life. More than 30,000 fans pledged money and uploaded images to the team’s website, and each fan has selected a spot on either car to have their image placed. The goal was to raise €1 million. This would be repeated again at the 2012 British Grand Prix, but the number would be reduced to 25,000 fans.
The GTR2 Version :
This is the later version, it has the 3 layouts of Silverstone, with textures to represent the track since 2007 mainly for use with GT and Touring cars, the GP layout has been adapted and for night use.
Now re-released with new structure and naming hopefully to avoid or prevent any possible pathing problems or conflicting with any other versions. The three layouts should show up under 07Silverstone naming in track selection screen. All credits and thanks for the modelling go to ISI, I only enhanced it for use on GTR Evo / Race07 / GTR2 by retexturing and remapping most surfaces.
Version 1.01 :
now has the resized textures and should be the final version, found some were experincing CTD errors so attempted to give everyone the same “playing field”. Sorry for all the inconvenience downloading the first releases may have caused. Initially i converted and adapted this for use in a private league, back when Race07 came out, some think its a better version, personally I always felt it was more challenging to Race on 🙂
Again if it is wrong in posting as I had no joy in contacting creators back then or recently, so if anyone complains please remove…the animated marshalls are possibly the ones I adapted from an early GTR2 version by 4ph3x.
Installation Instructions :
extract the .rar file with WinRAR or similar unpacker and drop the
track-folder into your GTR2\GameData\Locations\…directory – done.
