Track Infos from Wiki :
Oulton Park Circuit is a motor racing track close to the small village of Little Budworth, Cheshire, England. It is about 5 miles (8 km) from Winsford, 13 miles (21 km) from Chester city centre, 8 miles (13 km) from Northwich and 17 miles (27 km) from Warrington, with a nearby rail connection along the Mid-Cheshire Line. It occupies much of the area which was previously known as the Oulton Estate. The racing circuit is owned and operated by Jonathan Palmer‘s MotorSport Vision organisation.
The track is characterised by rapidly changing gradients, blind crests and several tight corners. The full circuit is 2.8 mi (4.5 km). The highest part of the course is Hill Top. Paddock facilities are reasonable in size with large areas of hard-standing and some power points.
The race track can be adapted for shorter courses. The “Foster’s” Circuit, which is 1.66 miles (2.7 km), comprises half of the “Cascades” corner followed by the “Hislop’s” chicane, it then heads onto Knickerbrook and up the 13% gradient of Clay Hill to work its way round to the start/finish straight. The British Touring Car Championships uses all of the Cascades Corner and Lakeside but then forks off into a hairpin before Island Bend. This hairpin cuts out all of the Island section of the circuit and takes the cars straight back over Hill Top.
Virtual Track Infos :
This is an interpretation of Oulton Park in the 60s early 70s, most buildings and signs are where they were at the time. i have added long gone water towers, huts and garage buildings (which had such great viewing when you climbed up) all left behind after the 2nd world war, the US officers mess and later bar at Lodge has reappeared as has the white painted Lodge building, and the old stands, the famous Chator and Scott infield book shop has also returned.
The avenue is is once again lined with track edge trees to catch the unwary. Armco type barriers were little in evidence and haybales, sleepers and trees lined the circuit as the only thing between you the lake or the spectators. The Logos and textures i have created are also period, the pit building has been reconstructed to represent the building so familiar to us older UK racegoers. The track was wild, bumpy and undulous and i hope that is evident in the racing. Many thanks must go as always to Motorfx for his Technical assistance and modelling skills.
With the addition of an A.I wetpath, wet track and animated marshals for this the GTR2 version, and changes to textures and shaders. This track has been on my hard drive for a long time so i thought it was time to release it to join my other period UK tracks.
