The Nürburgring is a 150,000 person capacity motorsports complex located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984, and a much longer Nordschleife “North loop” track which was built in the 1920s around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel mountains. The north loop is 20.8 km (12.9 mi) long and has more than 300 metres (1,000 feet) of elevation change from its lowest to highest points. Jackie Stewart nicknamed the old track “The Green Hell”.
Originally, the track featured four configurations: the 28.265 km (17.563 mi)-long Gesamtstrecke (“Whole Course”), which in turn consisted of the 22.810 km (14.173 mi) Nordschleife (“North Loop”), and the 7.747 km (4.814 mi) Südschleife (“South Loop”). There also was a 2.281 km (1.417 mi) warm-up loop called Zielschleife (“Finish Loop”) or Betonschleife (“Concrete Loop”), around the pit area.
In 1970, after the fatal crash of Piers Courage at Zandvoort, the F1 drivers decided at the French Grand Prix to boycott the Nürburgring unless major changes were made, as they did at Spa the year before. The changes were not possible on short notice, and the German GP was moved to the Hockenheimring, which had already been modified. In accordance with the demands of the F1 drivers, the Nordschleife was reconstructed by taking out some bumps, smoothing out some sudden jumps (particularly at Brünnchen), and installing Armco safety barriers. The track was made straighter, following the race line, which reduced the number of corners. The German GP could be hosted at the Nürburgring again, and was for another six years from 1971 to 1976.

Initially converted and reworked with the view to releasing it for rFactor release for CSGT group mod, I had some help along the way from team members at CSGT, especially Gunnar333 who also provided some models.
I spent many months on this and its still not fully finished, so still classing it as a beta Track. Closed some holes, new forest and trees planted, lots fo planting most tree and bush textures provided by 6e66o lots of other new textures, remapping of materials – all DDS for good framerates.
Some road areas will be felt through the wheel, where road as either broken up or cars have been bottoming out 🙂 – but after months of hard work and sitting on my hard drive. I did a bit more and thought you might like to try it out.

GTl has some subtle differences, that show up in the differences in lighting, so made some improvements to some materials, other areas and the way the track sections are modelled. depending on the time of day you race, car shadows may appear on grass banks – one way to prevent this is to alter settings for that area ..but it does mean reworking the model again, so I will look at later date – but you should be able to still enjoy the ride !

Thanks to Jan Kohl and Thorsten of USPITS along with my friend “Philrob” I have been able to add some missing buildings, this was going to be a small patch but in the end I made some other changes replaced the modern looking vans for tents and cars, other tweaks and the odd few fixes, some that did not show up straight away. plus I added my treeshadows, in fact it now uses more shadows without any major hit on FPS on my pc, (removed the earlier shadow versions), new aiw file, which should take into account most addon mods, best results were with C-ERA , BMW M1 procar and GTL-GTR2 cars, a new GDB file not only with corrected info and some road grip tweaks more animated marshals.

there is another “.trk” file included (remove the .bak to use) for those who may wish to remove the Dynamic TreeShadows if they do happen to experience any FPS issues. plus the original AIW.
There are two loose xsectors in the track folder, that can be removed without causing a problem, but I thought there are possibly some racers that may find it useful to quickly get back to the start finish line to start your timed lap by turning right into the unused “Nordkehre” section behind the pits – it will give”cut warning” so will not count, so you can’t cheat.
