Track Infos from Wikipedia :
The Autodromo Internazionale Siracusa is a non-permanent Italian car and motorcycle track located in the city of Syracuse. In the past, Formula 1 races were held that were not valid for the world championship in this category, hosting high-level riders and teams, and an automobile Grand Prix, the Syracuse Grand Prix. It was used until 1969 but its next reopening is not excluded.
The first race on the Syracuse circuit was held in 1950 when the 1st edition of the Coppa d’Oro Sicilia took place and then a year later, in 1951, the first edition of the Syracuse GP took place.
Although it was a race outside the calendar of the Formula 1 World Championship, it had a noteworthy enthusiasm among Formula 1 drivers and audiences, so much so that it became a tradition for the Arezzo city that from that moment opened the racing season annually European; this happened also thanks to its Mediterranean climate that allowed the dispute of the race in the first months of the year.
The track, in different configurations with lengths of around 5.5 km, hosted sixteen Formula One Grand Prixs between 1951 and 1967, with the sole exception of 1962 in which the competition did not take place, and ten editions of the Coppa d ‘Oro Sicilia, in addition to Formula 2 races and nine editions of the Night 3 Hours.
The circuit’s activities continued until 1969, when the Aretusian structure was declared uninhabitable due to the inadequacy of hosting an ever-increasing number of audiences, due to the precarious protections and some sections of the track that became dangerous.
Subsequently an attempt was made to finance a plan dedicated to the return to motor racing in Syracuse, with the construction begun in 1972 of the international racetrack of Syracuse, a project that remained stationary for many years during which the competitions were not held, but where testing and free trials of cars and motorcycles took place given the practicability of the asphalt strip; however, only in 2013, funds were allocated for the completion and modernization of the racetrack facilities, functional to its opening to competitions.
About the GTR2 conversion :
When I first started to convert this track I found several problems in the conversion process (aka CTD). Finally, after lots of hours I have finished a very polished GTR2 conversion.
I have fixed everything: fixed the garage locations for GTR2, fixed the pit in/out lights, fixed the starting lights, fixed the fuel use (in the original track it was wrong) and fixed the Safety car (now it is working so you can fully use rolling starts too). The main pit building has the collision mark deactivated. I did that on purpose because AI cars constantly crashed when going out of the pit garage locations because of the close pillars.
Hope you enjoy this conversion as much as I did in converting it !
Circuit Statistics :
Direction: Anti Clockwise
Still to do :
this conversion does not include marshalls. Reflections have to be done too.
Feel free to add these two features if you know how to do it !
