The Group 5 version of the BMW 320 introduced in 1977 as a replacement to the BMW 3.0 CSL, nicknamed the Flying Brick in reference to the blocky bodyshape, was powered by a Formula Two engine that was tuned to 225 kW (302 bhp) by BMW Motorsport.

The car was developed in only just over 12 weeks, without technical drawings. BMW Motorsport engineers simply carried out the modifications directly, with the car progressively taking its final shape.

The Group 5 320 was also used by the McLaren team in the American International Motor Sports Association series. It was also used by the BMW Junior Team, whose drivers included Manfred Winkelhock, Eddie Cheever, and Marc Surer. The 320 won its first race, at Zolder in 1977 with Marc Surer at the wheel. It also won the 1981 and 1982 Guia Race of Macau.

Mod Infos :

This is a 1:1 Conversion from GTL to GTR2 without changes on physics, meshes, textures, skins or sounds. This Mod will work with the GTL-GTR2 Mod by scca1981 and also as standalone. This mod contains 37 different teams – ideal for cup driving.

GTR2 adjustments by SiGi, January 2023 :

– added /changed all required files so that the mod will run as standalone or with the GTL-GTR Mod by scca1981
– changed team slotnumbers with indication of the year
– renamed team folders with car number and team name
– removed not required GTL files from team folders (.bik and icon files)
– added internal GTR2 driver (for HQ suits and gloves use)
– added rainscreen
– activated Laptimer / MoTeC
– added RPM Peak LED and warning light for low fuel
– activated reverse light
– adjusted some .car file entries / values
– added new showroom / expo floor from Power and Glory Mod
– added tech spec infos for showroom
– added shadow texture with better anti-aliasing
– added Templates

Note – Setup Tip :

this car has no rain tires – just like all vehicles from the GTL-GTR2 Mod as GT Legends has no rain animation – nevertheless you can drive the cars in GTR2 with rain. I did a test drive with 50% rain in sim mode (I only drive simulation) and the car was still manageable for me.

The vehicle breaks away easily when braking hard, so you should set the brake pressure to around 90%, cooling to 3 and the steering angle to around 12-15 degrees in the setup. Of course you can also switch on driving aids which simplify driving / stability -but you have to switch to beginner or semi-pro mode for this.

Fundamentally you have to drive these old vehicles with foresight as they do not have the technical tools like modern vehicles and are therefore more difficult to control. But that’s exactly what makes them attractive 😉

Deinstall / Install Instructions :

i recommend always to DELETE FIRST any previous versions of this car / mod to prevent crashes / conflicts !

This mod will overwrite the STEX_GTL.gtr, TALENT_GTL.gtr, SIM_Legend.gdb and SIM_Legends_Single_Makes.gdb files – those files are from the default GTL-GTR2 mod – the only change i made was to add the BMW 320 to the SIM_Legends_Single_Makes.gdb. If you use modified version of this files you should make a backup of those files before intstalling this mod.

to install, extract with WinRAR or else and drop the GameData folder into your GTR2 main-directory – allow to overwrite existing one with “YES ALL” – done.
