Car Infos from Wikipedia :
The BMW M8 GTE is an endurance grand tourer (GT) car constructed by the German automobile manufacturer BMW. It was developed in late 2016 and made its competitive début in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and FIA WEC for the 2018 season, and thus marking BMW Motorsport’s return to 24 Hours of Le Mans after a six-year hiatus.
The M8 GTE, which replaced the ongoing BMW M6 GTLM at the end of the 2017 season, is based on the BMW M8. The car was unveiled on 12 September 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Germany.

for that, navigate into your “GTR2-GameData-Teams-GRID_GT…” directory and delete the complete folder “BMW M8 GTE Teams” – done.
to install, extract with WinRAR or else and drop the GameData folder into your GTR2 main-directory – allow to overwrite existing one with “YES ALL” – done.

SiGi, I promise this is the last time I am mentioning this, but those more modern cars have inactive Motec screen elements, such as tire wear, RPM, ABS/TC level, spin/lock indicator etc (because GTR2 does not support them).
However, I am working on a plugin that enables those things and much more (there are some cars that already use new capabilities, I can send you video). However, it requires relatively simple car changes. I understand that not many people use my plugin, but the good thing that for example, for Motec, you can hide enhanced elements behind the genstring and people who are not using my plugin will not be affected and will have static images as today. Not all Enhancements can ben be hidden that way, but Enhanced Motec elements can be.
If this is something interesting to you, let me know and we can enable new features in GTR2 🙂 In any case, best of luck – I am a big fan of this site and polished mods you release.
hello IronWolf,
well, that sounds interesting – do you have a link for the video or tool ?
how does your tool works ? like XD-Tool or a Motec for HUD Display ?
it would certainly be desirable to have more values displayed – the only question is how to get these additional values on the motec display in the cockpit and where i can insert these values as a modder. The XD tool already offers some useful and important additional information – wouldn’t it make more sense to expand the XD tool instead of having to install another tool?
regards
Hi SiGi,
Here’s the project Home:
https://thecrewchief.org/showthread.php?2012-Crew-Chief-GTR2-Enhancements-Plugin-Setup-Instructions-Known-Issues-and-Changelog
This is huge project with a lot of stuff added. It would be really nice to have a place for us to collaborate, first post above contains link to project Discord server, please join it, I will explain everything you need to know and we can get down to work. This plugin works only with Steam GTR2 exe, but trust me – you are not missing anything, only gaining. There’s also modern XD replacement for Steam version.
You can see some of the capabilities demo’ed on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcW9B9rNiK_1QlevSYy3f3A more is in the plugin manual.
Regards.
To answer your question “where” elements are displayed – they are displayed as if you had them naturally configured in LCD display via .car. It is not an overlay, it is actual 3D polygon with textures. However, because this is an unofficial modification, the mechanism for adding such things is different from stock game (it is not done via .car).
My other post is stuck due to links, but you can find my project and ways to contact me by searching for “Crew Chief GTR2 Enhancements Project”. Cheers 🙂
thanks for the infos, IronWolf – i will take a look on your project.
I released your other post – it was initially blocked by the system because it contains external links.
Regards
SiGi,
I’ll just allow myself one final clarification, see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAI4iBbTlTk
We.can.have.screen.like.that.in.GTR2, today 🙂 Of course, no fancy shaders/lighting yet, but who knows what will happen in the future.
Regards.
Thank you for this top quality updates

hello and thanks for the flowers, but please don’t forget to acknowledge the work of GT Italia Modding Team – without these guys we wouldn’t have actual LMP and GT cars / skins in GTR2, at least a few 😉
SiGi Hi. I am a member of the GT Italia Modding Team community, I always thank these guys for their excellent work. I am also very grateful to you, you are improving mods, delighting us GTR2 fans.
